  1. “Another Cold War? Obama says 'no' but Americans aren’t so sure”
    By Brad Knickerbocker
Half of all Americans believe the US and America are headed back to another Cold War. Despite President Obama saying the United States doesn’t seek any conflict with Russia, the majority of older Americans anticipate a recreation of history. Remembering what happened the first time, they can draw parallels between the two situations. Americans from ages 18-29 don’t pay attention to the possibility as much, and the reason can be because of firsthand experience, or the lack of it.

    1. I think this would be an interesting topic for debate because there are two sides to argue. Some people may think that another Cold War is inevitable and others may believe that it won't happen again. There's another aspect to argue regarding this situation too which is whether or not it would be worth it to get involved in another war.

    2. You could also talk about the age groups of the people who take one specific side. Like the article said, many younger Americans don't take the topic as seriously and don't believe we are headed into another Cold War. Older Americans tend to realize the similarities between what is happening now and the Cold War around 1947. Arguments could be made whether or not this is the only reason for the differences in thoughts between age groups, and if there are other reasons for them.

  2. "Car bomb kills three soldiers in attack on Lebanese army checkpoint."
A suicide bomber detonated a car bomb at a Lebanese army checkpoint, near the town of Arsal, killing three soldiers as well as himself. The town of Arsal contains many Syrian rebels and refugees fleeing a Syrian army advance on Lebanon. On Thursday, March 27th, the Lebanese army raided and killed someone suspected of making bombs. They continued raiding other homes in Arsal on Saturday, March 29th.

A mudslide in Washington state on Saturday, March 22nd caused a death toll of 18 people, and a missing person number of thirty. The numbers continue changing as time goes on, with searchers using everything they can to look for more people. The searching was paused at 10:37 a.m. on Saturday, March 29th to honor those whose lives were lost by what is being called one of the deadliest slides in American history. Authorities have warned families that the process of finding all of the victims is a long process, and not everyone may be accounted for.
